to the Mountes Digital Amateur Photography website. This website is dedicated to one of my hobbies: Digital Photography. As I do this as a hobby, the main focus is on photography from an Amateur point of view. On this website I share my experience with my gear (past and present), what theory knowledge I gathered during the years and images I shot throughout the years.
Another subject on this website are the paintings made by my mother. This website was launched on November 11th 2025 so it will be “Under Construction” for quite some time.

Let me introduce myself: Jeroen van den Berg, born in the Netherlands, 1969. Married to Karin, two kids (1995 and 1997) and one grandchild (2024).

After high school, I worked a short period as Software Engineer in Utrecht. I could combine that job with General Aviation. In 1991 I got my Flight Instructor Rating, in 1992 I joined KLM Flight Academy as a Flight Instructor. I taught on the General Aviation Trainer (GAT), the Frasca Simulator, the Beech Bonanza BE36 simulator, the Slingsby FireFly, the Beech Bonanza BE36, the Beech Baron BE58 and the Airbus A310 Full Flight Simulator. December 1998 I continued my career with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, started as Second Officer on the MD11. Subsequently I went to the Boeing 747-400 as S/O, first Officer on the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100, Captain and Type Rating Instructor/Examiner on the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100, Captain and Type Rating Instuctor/Examiner on the Boeing 737-300 to -900 and currently in my last position before I will retire in 2028: Captain and Type Rating Instructor Airbus A330 (and probably A350 just before I retire).
As a hobby I teach at the Aeroclub Hilversum Amsterdam (ACHA) at Hilversum Airfield (EHHV), pretty much right next to our house.
I’m also Chairman of the Project Spitfire Foundation (the goal of this Foundation is mainly to maintain the memory of the Second World War in general and the part the Supermarine Spitfire played in it in particular).

Another hobby has always been photography. Initially using film, from 1999 onwards, digital cameras. My work has brought me to many places on our precious planet, seeing all those places gradually created my need for a larger variety of focal length.
So I started with a Digital SLR, the Canon EOS Rebel, that way I could swap lenses. One thing led to another, you can read my journey to my current gear set-up here.
