The Cathedral of Ely is one of the prettiest I had the privilege of visiting (and, thanks to my job as a pilot, I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to visit quite a number of them). It’s Octagon could very well be absolutely unique in this world. As our daughter and son in law have lived a number of years in this quiet city with some medieval buildings remaining to this date, we could visit this Cathedral a few times. More information about it’s origin and fascinating history can be found here.

This is a rather unique tombe. A lord has been laid to rest there together with both his wives, as he had loved them both dearly. Although the difference in quality of the sculptures might give the impression his Lordship did have a (slight) preference there. Lets walk around the corner to see his Lordship other wife her sculpture:

But it is likely that this sculpture has know better days in the past.
